So, its clear that the Knicks 2009 season ended the way we all expected. When Mike D'Antoni was introduced to New York on May 13th 2008,and he promised that his teams would play hard and they would be exciting. He told us to buckle up our seat belts and watch them go for it. And, at the outset it looked like the Knicks could have made the playoffs. Before December, they were 8-8, and play like that could have gotten them into the playoffs, but then the financials got in the way. Donnie Walsh felt that, ( or so it appears) waiting for the end of the season to make moves for 2010 would be too long. Jamal Crawford was traded on Nov 21, for disgruntled Al Harrington from Golden State, (a player i thought the Knicks could have benefited from trading for) although he has a termination clause after this season. They traded away Zach Randolph and Marty Colllins a couple of hours later on the same day for Cuttino Mobley and Tim THomas. These moves gave the Knicks great opportunity to lose game after game after game. Cuttino Mobley retired, after doctor after doctors told him his hyperthrophic cardiomyopathy progressively got worse. Although they couldn't predict that he would have to retire, they also didn't think that these guys would ever really make it to the playoffs, how could they?
Now that the season is over, and they have traded Tim Thomas and liltte used Anthony Roberson, let Marbury take his antics to Boston, ( where they won't make it out the 2nd round) what do the Knicks do. They have Larry Hughes stuck in the 2 guard until next season, Al Harrington in the 4. Gallinari and Wilson coming off the bench, Quentin assuming the roll for D"Antoni, that Malik Rose served for Isiah. I am glad that he is scouting for Donnie Walsh, (Isiah Thomas) because even if he is dillusional, he can sure secure talent. But, I'll get to that. Those 5 players, come back. Eddy Curry, (shaking my head) has been a big dissapointment, and unfortunately the pun is intended. Mr. Walsh might have to use every ounce of his good will to get him gone, but he more than likely there until Febuary. The way this roster is put together, i think it would be hard to imagine, some way some how the Knicks don't pick in the Draft more than once. And, that brings me to my point, who do they Draft? Who can Donnie Walsh and (whispering) Isiah Thomas, bring in? Who makes a big enough impact during the 2010 season to bring in the biggest name in that summers free- agency market? D'Antoni doesn't seem intrested in big men, he likes to use his system, he like to cross-match, he likes gritty player willing to work hard while on the court. HE wants guys that can run, play defense, shoot, and are good teammates. Gallinari, eventhough injured proved to posses these components. So, what do the Knicks do for a follow up? They have to give their 1st round pick to Utah, and because of that, this years pick needs to be near perfect. Mock drafts have Stephen Curry, Tyreke Evans, James Harden around when the Knicks are projected to pick. These guys are good and all, but are they the difference makers we want. Lebron seems sold on Stephen Curry, and is that the type of reckoning that fans need? Personally, I'm looking for some sleepers. I want that Calos Boozer, Monta Ellis, Gilbert Areanas, guys that are under the radar, but can be game changers. Knick fans, a few names on my radar, maybe you guys know some more. Sam Young Pitt, Gerald Henderson Duke, Nick Calathas, Florida, Earl Clark Lousiville, A.J. Price, Conn, Jordan Hill Ariz, and Hassem Thabbet Con, Tyreke Evans, Mem. Some of these guys are lottery and some are later on in the rounds, but def, guys that would fit in with Mike D/antoni, and able to listen to what he has to say. Not many 2nd rounders in my small list but, you guys know . Dominic James Marquette, is a 2nd rounder, and he can ball. What's up, where does the next Knick come from? anyone out there know..
