Jailblazers?? Where my thugs at?? posted on 10/23/2008
The Portland trailblazers have finally done it. It only took them 6 years to get rid of the of all the underachieving, ballhogging, G unit wanna be's. Gone are the days of Damon "Don't stop me in the airport" Stoudamire, Isaiah "Remember me?" Rider, Bonzi "Do I ever make a difference" Wells, Rasheed "I'm still high from the 90's" Wallace, and Zach" I got the munchies" Randolph (Yack, Im a Knicks fan I just puked in my mouth). Look how long bad decision making can ruin a franchise. Luckily, the Blazers hit a jackpot with GM Kevin Pritchard. He is a new school GM who bases his draft picks on character, not just talent, and is not afraid to pull the trigger on deals, often. That, coupled with Brandon Roy and Lamarcus Aldridge's emergence as stars in the NBA have Trailblazer fans thinking dynasty. That is, if Old Man Ogden is the truth....Dynasty? Well, not so fast. Martell Webster, Channing Frye, Ike Diogu, Sergio Rodriguez, Travis Outlaw, Steve Blake, and Raef LaFrentz (Well, who cares about him) all become free agents after this year. K. Pritchard is going to have to figure out which pieces to keep and which to let go in order to have enough cap room to sign the big boys. However, even in the ever competitive west, the Trailblazers core of Roy, Ogden, Aldridge, Webster (they'll keep him he could still be in college), and Jerryd Bayless could be a starting five to reckon with for a long time. Oh, and don't forget about Rudy Fernandez. He has been playing a high level of basketball for a long time and with some minutes could quickly turn into a NBA star/fan favorite. Well, good luck Trailblazers fans, I like your future, just stay away from Snoop's Crib.
