I'm a Kobe fan. Huge Kobe fan. He's practically my generation's MJ. Nothing against MJ, I just never saw him play much. I went to the United Center once, when I was seven, and all I remember is Scottie Pippen's crew-cut and cotton candy. Also, I'm from D.C., so the fact that MJ ruined the entire development and chemistry of an up-and-coming Washington Wizards team, just so he could milk a little more limelight, doesn't really sit well.

Lately, it has been so hard to think of the New York Knicks, and think of the great teams of the past. It is hard to see the history behind such a great franchise. A franchise that has won 2 NBA championships, both in the 1969-1970 season and 1972-1973 season, and a franchise who has also made the playoffs 38 times, last time being in the 2003-2004 season, in their 62 year history . If you have only recently became a NBA fan, you are seeing a Knicks team, that looks more like an expansion team, then a great franchise. The Knicks have not had a winning season since the 2000-2001 season, and for most of this decade, it looks as though it has gotten worse and worse from season to season. However, with the addition of head coach Mike D'Antoni, the

Its late and I have a big day ahead of me with Fanfest and the All-Star Game but The Homerun Derby did a great job of getting this even off to a great start. The atmosphere and spectacle all lived up to and actually surpassed the hype. There was a lot of downtime but hey its in Yankee Stadium with the best fans in the world and your watching the best players in the world, things could be worse.

Wow what a game. In a typical Yankee-Red Sox fashion, tonights Sunday Night ESPN game was one to remember. It was a game that the Yankees probably don't win last month or even last week. Girardi's tyrade seems to have woken the team up and gotten them going. They kept fighting and clawing and finally found a way to win. Maybe it wasnt the prettiest game but it earned them a split, which is great after dropping the first two.

If you are a MLB manager in New York, you are involved in some risky business. No matter how much you do for your team over the years, one false move could end up with you not having a job.

It seems that this year the The New York Yankees won't be sending more than 1 (maybe 2) players to the All Star game being held in Yankee Stadium. Johnny Damon had a stellar month in May, but can he keep it up? Alex Rodriguez went down and bounced back nicely. Derek Jeter has been up and down all year, and Jorge Posada is still out. With the All Star game only about a month away it will be intresting to see which

In New York City right now there is general sports euphoria, what with the Giants on their way to a sure big time Super Bowl defeat in Arizona. Forgotten as a big time franchise, the

I was talking before about the Curse of the Basketball Gods when it comes to the New York Knicks piss-poor performance over the last eight seasons, but this season is shaping up to be sheer insanity -- which as we know is defined as doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. I guess wins against the Nets is good for the cross-town rivalry, but other than that? I wonder if dumping Larry Brown was a smart move on the Dolans' part? He wasn't given a chance and his squad was horrendous -- even worse than what they have now. Sure he tallied up the franchise's worst record EVER, but he's a quality coach who would have had something to prove the following season. I mean were the clashes with perennial cancer Stephon Marberry that much of an issue to can the coach instead of the venom-spreading Starberry?
