New York Daily News reporter, Ralph Vacchiano, wrote today that Amani Toomer seems to think he will not be back with the New York Giants next season.
Speaking to the media for the first time since the end of the season, Toomer spoke about how the New York Giants continually phased him out of the offense, even after Plaxico Burress' suspension. Toomer, who is 34, felt the Giants wanted to see what they had in Steve Smith, Dominik Hixon, Mario Manningham, and Sinorice Moss. Seeing how the passing game struggled after Plaxico Burress was out, I have to agree with Toomer being frustrated. Obviously Hixon was too inconsistent to be relied upon as the #1 wide receiver, and Steve Smith was not a deep threat. Sure Toomer doesn't have the speed he once had, but he still has reliable hands and can be counted on to convert on third down.
Toomer is one of the best wideouts in Giants history, and I will really be disappointed if the Giants do not bring him back.
Do you think the Giants should move on without Amani Toomer? Who would you like the Giants to bring in at wide receiver?
