Mets Agree To Deal With Oliver Perez

Oliver Perez will stay with the New York Mets after signing a 3 year deal worth $36 million. The deal is a pretty fair one considering Perez was looking for 5 years and $70 million last offseason.

Perez might not ever pitch like a $12 mil. pitcher, but I'd rather see Perez every fifth day than a guy like Randy Wolf. The Mets now can let Tim Redding battle out for the fifth rotation spot.

I'm glad the Mets were able to agree to just three years for Perez. After what Barry Zito got in the free agent market two years ago, I was really nervous the Mets were going to overpay.
