The Yankees look good. Their offense is #1 and their pitching is 17th, behind The Mets, surprisingly enough. It shows how much the injuries truly have derailed The Mets, but that's not the purpose of this blog. I think at 70-43, they have shown themselves to be the class of the league right now. Compared to this time last year, when they were 63-56, 9 games out. That difference of 8 games, and three very important piece to that 8 games difference in Teixeira, Sabathia, and Burnett. From this, i gather that players make it difficult to run away with their division, and if it weren't for an 0-8 start to The Redsoxs, the ead would be bigger, like the payroll and play dictates. The Yankees can only de-rail themselves and The Redsoxs, lost like the bully that needed to be confronted and defeated to completely forget all apprehensions. They have all things lined for a run at the World Series for real, and it would be fitting for the new stadium to experience the World Series after the old stadium missed the playoffs for the first time in 13years.
I don't think there is anything else left to be done, but play the games, and avoid serious injuries to important players. It's good to see this team play so well, it's fun to see The Yankees dominate like they should. If this game was played on paper, one would expect to see them a top the list. Mo, looked human early, but dominates with the cutter away. It's fun to watch his game change, from power to thinking. He now freezes hitters like he used to break bats, its truly mastering the art of pitching. Jeter has taken the lead-off spot, to MVP honorable mention, and their 1st baseman is MVP front-runner. All is good in The Bronx, but that is until the postseason comes around. Johnny Damon will definetly get another contract. He makes 13million, i think the Yanks would resign at a good price. Protection for Austin Jackson, the minor leaguer all NYer's are waiting for. He might be used as their good luck charm this year. The September call up that gets to watch the postseason in uniform.
The Yankees continue to make bullpens look inept, and I think with the walk-off wins, the opposition is starting to get that feeling they used to have when the old bomber reigned supreme. If the game was close, somehow, some inning, the Yanks were going to get the upper hand. There are still 50 games to go, but its nice to know, barring a bad September, there will be late October baseball in NY, and that's a good thing. I still don't think there should be a salary cap, because the bad teams will never spend up to the cap, and it will force teams to spend less, while not lowering prices at the stadium, and although the league will have more players spread throughout it, good players will be stuck on bad teams. I wouldn't like to see Teixeira on the Nationals or Orioles, and neither would Teixeira.
A-rod, what can i say, i guess, i just wait to see Pujols implicated also. There only human, they make mistakes too. Not justifying it, but I want to root for the guy, so I don't think it's all that bad. He just should have come clean to Katie Couric. All the money he makes, you would have thought he could come up with the story Ortiz did. He said something to the effect that, I'm trying to find info, but i can't. Do we really believe that? I don't. Not for one second. But, The Yanks are good, and they spent alot of money, and now they are seeing a little something for it.
