Now, first game's first – Black Mamba.

I want to hate him, but I just can't. All I could do is watch him in complete awe as he dominated the court – completely unfazed by the fact that his starting center was injured and out.  My chants of defense were useless and quickly silenced on every possession. A hand in his face, a body falling off balance – it didn't matter. The shots still fell and I had to respect every one of them. They fell and kept falling until he reached 61 – the most points scored in the Garden since it moved to its new location on 33rd st. Fatigue was far from a factor, no matter how hard the Knicks played him and sent him to the line. Kobe coolly knocked down all 20 foul shots that he attempted. As a Knicks fan, all I could do was shake my head and wish that Bernard King could've put in just one more shot to salvage his spot in the record books. As a basketball fan, all I could do was be grateful that I was able to witness offensive perfection from the man who will surely walk away with the M.V.P. trophy this season.

Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen are among the elite at their respective positions, breaking records left and right. Individually, they have accomplished all that they possibly could. Each of those men were surely headed to the Hall of Fame, but they were all headed there with bare fingers. They were all headed there without closure. Until, that is, a sunny summer day in 2007. Talent partially aside, there is no way in the world that you could put those three men together and not win a championship. The hunger that they all shared for that Larry O'Brien was enough to secure the big prize that they have all been chasing since the day they were drafted. They are now headed to the hall of fame with some extra shine.

 Topping my long list of reasons for opposing this trade is the fact that Jamal was just named the captain of this New York team. For quite some time, our problem has not been lack of talent, but lack of a cohesive unit with good leadership. We finally have a group of guys working together with great chemistry under the leadership of team captain, Jamal Crawford. Jamal was coming off his best season yet, and began the 2008-2009 season with very similar numbers - 19.6ppg and 4.4 apg. Trading away the man who took on the difficult role of leading this team says a lot about the lack of team morale.

Fellow Knicks "fans" left me dazed at the Garden on Wednesday as they chanted for Stephon Marbury to come to the floor. D'Antoni paid no mind and left Steph where he belongs, warming the bench.

 The chants began when Chris Duhon commited his first turnover. Unintelligent fans are funny like that...one turnover and they start screaming for an even worse option than the one on the floor. My, oh my, how quickly they forgot how many costly turnovers Steph commited in the past seasons.

All in all, Duhon did a decent job. He had 9 points, dished 3 assists, grabbed 3 boards, and tallied one steal. I won't praise him on the defensive end, because his man did always seem to be a step ahead of him.

Allan has been working out with Knicks at their training camp since day 1 and apparently D'Antoni liked what he saw. I know that many fans are skeptical, but I don't think that D'Antoni and Walsh would've picked him up if they didn't think that he could contribute to the team that they are trying to build. At his worst, Allan would bring veteran leadership and knowledge-something that the Knicks are surely lacking. At best, he'll work with Jamal Crawford to provide the Knicks with a powerful 1-2 punch. Jamal's point guard abilities are underestimated and Allan's ability to perform at 37 are questioned, but I have faith. The Knicks lacked consistency throughout the year last season and Allan was certainly consistent throughout his career, so look for him to help stabalize the Knicks.

 2 years ago, Isiah Thomas made the mind-boggling decision of drafting Balkman at #20 while players with the likes of Rajon Rondo and Marcus Williams were still up for grabs (I know....take a minute to shake your head and wonder what life would be like with Rondo).

 Since we've learned not to expect much from Isiah's picks and Balkman gave us more than we expected, the criticisms have been silenced and most fans have taken a liking to Balkman. Sure, he only averages 3.5 ppg and 3.3 boards per game, but he's only given about 14 inconsistent minutes per game to do so. More importantly, Renaldo provided NY with an energy and defense that it hasn't seen since Spree. So what do we do with a player that fits perfectly with Mike's style? We trade him of course! ughhh

 It's understandable that the organization and fellow players might be annoyed at his change of heart (which occurs almost every season). Favre may have gone too far this time, but I still believe that the Packers owe it to him to give him his position back. I am not even a Green Bay fan, but I can appreciate what the man has done for Wisconsin. We are talking about one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. He holds NFL records for most career passing yards, career completions, career touchdown passes, and career wins

 All of that waiting....for nothing. Even my 11 year old sister could tell you that a foward was the last thing the Knicks needed. Stephon's non-effectiveness and our lack of a back-up point guard that has any skill to go with all his energy, leaves a clear opening for a point guard. At the 6th pick, the most reasonable choice was D.J. Augustin. His solid freshman year was a bit overshadowed by teammate Kevin Durant. He made the decision to stay in college and mature for another year, and he did. His points improved and his turnovers decreased. His assists decreased a bit, but only because he lost his sta go-to player. Overall, I think he is ready to lead a team and I think he should've been leading ours. Instead, we let him slide to 9th.

Ok, so we didn't get a pg. Next best thing is center, right? We have to get rid of Eddy because clearly his fat ass isn't going to run up and down the court at the pace that Mike is going to ask of them. Unless he gets seriously focused and fit in the offseason, he should be shipped away and we should've taken Lopez to replace him.
