Explain to me why that is!?!? Its been a steady decline from day one in NY, he hasn't been happy to play in his hometown, and now he refuses to play!!! And I can already hear the Starbury fans screaming "D'antoni didn't tell him, he asked him!!!" I DON'T CARE!! When you make $20,840,62 I think you are kinda obligated to play. Marbury's stock is falling faster than the NYSE and I'm not sure we are going to find any takers.
Second Reason for tears...
Apparently we are waiting two more years before we try for the playoffs.
Ok we have taken a step in the right direction by shedding some salary cap, but apparently this is all in hopes that we can get King James, and Bosh, IN 2010!!!! D'antoni already said Harrington and Thomas are too out of shape to play his offense, and Mobley hasn't been cleared to play from a heart condition. Let's also hope Harrington is ready to buy in, he spent the first part of the season buried on the bench in GS because of fights with Don Nelson, and since coming to MSG he looks like he will take and miss any shot on the court.
I have no problem with retooling, obviously Isiah left quite a mess to be cleaned up, and I honestly think D'antoni is the man to do it. (Fingers crossed.) But let's not be happy being a top contender in the King James sweepstakes in two summers. Remember, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. If Cleveland finds a way to keep him, or a team like Miami or LA sweeps in somehow, I don't want to be left out in the cold for another 5 years.
Tonight is the first game against the Golden State Warriors and Jamal Crawford, which has been hugely overshadowed by the continuing Marbury saga. Crawford was well liked by the management and his teammates, and I wish him the best out west. I shouldn't be so negative, there are some signs of life in the Knicks, they have scored over 95 points 11 times already this season, and are still hovering around .500 which keeps you in the hunt in the Eastern Conference.
Since it's the holiday time, let's hope for the best, and maybe Santa can spread a little magic in MSG.
