Nate Robinson

3 October 2009

The Knicks have great flexibility). Players like Al Harrington, David Lee, and Nate Robinson, want to be here past this season. Chris Duhon and Larry Hughes strike me as players that will try and strike the proverbial hot iron, and make a pay-day out of this season, a season that could be a potentially good one. There will be few guys that will be happy just riding the bench. Darko Milicic will want good court time. Jared Jefferies has a little chip on his shoulders, he's tired of being an offensive joke, and has stretched his range into the 3point line.

I hope that Mr. Donnie Walsh goes out there and gets Ramon Sessions. This young baller out of Nevada can be Raja Bell like for Mike D'Antoni's Knicks. No, he won't guard the two, but he can be a good

The Knicks are headed in the right direction. Although I think Donnie Walsh is old school, I love the consistency the teams he control has. He seems like the type of President willing to listen to well thought out ideas.  Mike D’Antoni was a great hiring, and Mark Jackson or Patrick Ewing would have been a nice story to write, but Coach D’Antoni has won 60 games before. I am glad that we were unable to get J-Kidd.  He is a great player, but we don’t want the Knicks to stay an old team. We also don’t need New Jersey’s traded player. He showed Marbury who the better point guard was, after Marbury claimed he was, back in 2005. That’s a side point. I believe in Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, and even David Lee. We just need to surround these guys with players willing to do the thinking on the court, and be the leader. Sounds a lot like J-Kidd, it’s just that some players don’t need to be a Knick. Much like Penny Hardaway, or Glen Rice, a former great that was just a few years late. I like how the free agency market has opened up for the organization now and I the future.

sp; With much speculation swirling around whether or not the Knicks would deal away enigmatic guard Nate Robinson and workhorse David Lee, both were able to breath easier last night knowing that they'd be playing in New York for the remainder of the season.

Since the Knicks only have two real guards in Chris Duhon and Nate Robinson, he will get plenty of time on the floor and D’Antoni loves it when his players shoot. Loves it. While Wilcox doesn’t have a strong jump shot, big deal. His big tough body in the paint is just what the team is missing and his transition game and ability to finish at the rim will go perfectly on the pick-and-roll with Duhon.

Okay, let's just be honest here.  Nate Robinson may not have fully deserved the 2006 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Title, but he sure earned it this year.  Nate battled the defending champion, Dwight Howard, in the Finals and one-upped the ultimate gamesman in the end.  Together they put on possibly the greatest show in the history of the contest since the days of Michael Jordan battling Dominique Wilkins.

David Lee continues to post monster numbers, and Al Harrington and Nate Robinson are also enjoying the free-flowing nature of D'Antoni's unique system. Quentin Richardson, Tim Thomas, and Wilson Chandler show bright flashes of life at times, as well.

e Knicks were paced by another double-double effort by David Lee who had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Nate Robinson and Tim Thomas contributed 26 and 24 points, respectively, coming off the bench. The Knicks also went 15-32 (46.9%) from behind the arc, but that was not enough.

dler, PF-David Lee, C-Jared Jeffries

Bench (those that see consistent action): F-Al Harrington, G-Nate Robinson, F-Tim Thomas

On a given night, any of those players -- with the exception of Jeffries -- can be considered New York's premier player. Harrington and Thomas look good when they are feeling it, but their ups are seemingly always accompanied by downs. Robinson, Richardson, and Chandler are hot-and-cold as well.

Nate Robinson contributed nicely off the bench. He added 13 points to the score board, had 7 assists , 3 rebounds, and grabbed 2 steals. That better-than-decent line in his 24 minutes of playing time leads me to ask, again, why is this man coming off the bench? Another blog at another time...
