Pittsburgh Steelers

17 September 2009

It will be the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants in the Super Bowl, and Eli Manning will tie up the ring race with fellow draftee Ben Rothlisberger 27-24 in a classic. Let these facts guide you toward a season of virtue and grunting, and remember, you still must wear a suit and tie to work on Monday- leave the big Flinstones club and leopard garb at home.

Let it be said before I begin this blog:  I am from Dayton, Ohio, and I love the Cincinnati Bengals.  Wow, I feel so much better.  Now I’m ready to face the other 11 steps…

#7-James Harrison-LB, Pittsburgh Steelers

The NFL's Defensive Player of the Year is the total package in the middle of the field. For a linebacker, he's an exceedingly exceptional pass rusher, and he makes plays against the running game with ease. He gets to the ball as quickly as any LB I've ever seen, and when he gets there, he arrives with a bang. James doesn't just make the play, he makes sure to leave a mark, too.

osh Reed, although I do like him a lot, is not a number 2 wide reciever...he was a number 3 for the Pittsburgh Steelers before he came to Buffalo, and he should be a number 3 now. We should have worked more on James Hardy during the course of this season. James Hardy is a very skilled wide reciever, who some experts ranked higher than DeSean Jackson. The Philadelphia Eagles had a greatly improved wide reciever core this year, with the help of the young rookie. Also, we should be putting Roscoe Parrish in the slot...I can not think of a linebacker who can keep up with someone as fast as Roscoe is. Our offensive play calling was terrible this year. In the offseason, there was talk of us opening up our offense, letting it go. I didn't see that on the field at all...there were times where it looked like the offense was confused, and it looked like the defense knew exactly what was coming at them. I don't mind keeping head coach Dick Jauron, but maybe we should look offensive coordinator Turk Schonert. I know that it is his first year, so maybe it is better to keep him, but I want to see improvement, not the same 7-9, almost good enough for the playoffs, that Buffalo Bills fans have unfortunately become used to.

15 November 2008

It’s been a weird year, especially for sports. The Boston Celtics finally picked themselves up from the bootstraps to win a championship. Neither the Red Sox nor the Yankees amounted to anything more than a bunch of overpaid whiners. They are even tearing down Yankee Stadium.
