So, its clear that the Knicks 2009 season ended the way we all expected. When Mike D'Antoni was introduced to New York on May 13th 2008,and he promised that his teams would play hard and they would be exciting. He told us to buckle up our seat belts and watch them go for it. And, at the outset it looked like the Knicks could have made the playoffs. Before December, they were 8-8, and play like that could have gotten them into the playoffs, but then the financials got in the way. Donnie Walsh felt that, ( or so it appears) waiting for the end of the season to make moves for 2010 would be too long. Jamal Crawford was traded on Nov 21, for disgruntled Al Harrington from Golden State, (a player i thought the Knicks could have benefited from trading for) although he has a termination clause after this season. They traded away Zach Randolph and Marty Colllins a couple of hours later on the same day for Cuttino Mobley and Tim THomas. These moves gave the Knicks great opportunity to lose game after game after game. Cuttino Mobley retired, after doctor after doctors told him his hyperthrophic cardiomyopathy progressively got worse. Although they couldn't predict that he would have to retire, they also didn't think that these guys would ever really make it to the playoffs, how could they?

The Stephon Marbury saga, which ranges from LA to NY, might last a little longer yet. The talk all this week was about the Olympiakos, the New York Yankees of Greece, of having an interest in the banished guard. However, that ended early Friday when Jannero Pargo became the front runner. The reason is because Pargo has more European experience. I think it's because the Olympiakos just did not want to deal with Marbury's buyout with the Knicks.

Following the trades that sent Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph packing, for a short while, the Knicks seemed like they'd be able to survive the core-shaking changes to their roster. Al Harrington came to New York with something to prove, and he blazed through a hot streak of games about a week after joining the club.

Fellow Knicks "fans" left me dazed at the Garden on Wednesday as they chanted for Stephon Marbury to come to the floor. D'Antoni paid no mind and left Steph where he belongs, warming the bench.

Stephon Marbury don't fret, you are still the Knicks most electric, talented and impactful player on the roster- and it looks like it will stay that way for at least one last season. While Chris Duhon will make for a great backup point guard for the Knickerbockers, all stock has been put in the free agent Class of 2010...and rightfully so. Duhon received a 2 year deal, as to not get in the way of the courtship of Dwayne Wade, Lebron James or Carmelo Anthony in a few years. But Duhon offers more. He's a steady point guard, who dishes the ball, protects the ball, and shoots the ball with success. That being said, he is a nice player, not a thunder stealer from

Well, I'm back again for my belated follow-up blog and I'll tell you this - for the first time in a long time with the Knicks I have hope. I wasn't one of the clueless people that booed the draft pick last Thursday. I was there in attendance though and while I would have prefered Jerryd Bayless, I am now very happy with Danilo Gallinari as the Knicks draft pick. He is a 19 year old kid with all tools of one day becoming a ver good and even great player. Right now though, he's a project. And so are the Knicks.
